I haven't talked about any initiatives that I'm a fan of, but I love when companies give back. During my high school years, we were required to do at least 40 hours of volunteer work. I enjoyed volunteering and giving back so much that I actually had accumulated over 115 hours! I feel that giving back is very important and that's why I love the Mary Kay Beauty That Counts Baked Cheek Powder. These rosy glow blushes give back to the community, are highly pigmented and also beautiful on the cheeks!
I love trying out new products and I'm most excited when they turn out to be revolutionary products that change my skincare routine. I was able to discover the Shiseido IBUKI Smart Filtering Smoother Serum courtesy of Influenster. The claim for the Smart Filtering Smoother is that it helps to improve shine and visible pores instantly. The Smart Filtering Smoother acts as a serum, but has a finishing touch that helps to create photo-ready skin.
Growing up, I had extremely oily skin. This led to acne and feeling insecure about my skin (my story here!). I went through countless beauty products, different prescriptions and overall lifestyle changes. But barely anything changed. When I was younger, one of my mom's friends had recommended a facial oil and I was very skeptical that it would help my troubled skin. When oily or acneic skinned people hear about applying oils to the skin, they cringe and run away in fear. I did too, but trust me when I say there are definitely misconceptions about oils. In fact, oils can actually help to hydrate, protect, purify and help balance the skin. They also contain concentrated ingredients so a little goes a long way! (P.S. The facial oil actually helped my skin!)
Whether you're young or old, it's always nice to receive goodies at Easter. It's easier to put together things in a basket for kids, but what about the preteens and adults? Sure chocolate is always nice, but sometimes having a more customized basket is nicer. That's why I put together a little post for an Easter basket idea for the beauty lover in your life!
I was looking through my desk the other day and realized I had a ton of clutter. I've been reading a few books that involve minimalism and only owning things that bring you joy. This concept was new to me because growing up, I was very fortunate to have more than I needed. I had more toys than I could play with, and more books than I could read. Minimalism is becoming a very hot topic in modern society because we take a lot for granted. Think about it: when are you going to wear that sweater that still has the tags on it? After reading these books, I realized I need to declutter my life, so why not document it?
Yup It's TrueI just got accepted as an official member of the Yelp Elite Squad: Greater Toronto!!! How cool is that! I know right? I recently got the chance to try the Canadian brand Carina Organics. Based out of Vancouver, Carina Organics is conscious about the environment which makes them a great eco-friendly brand. Their products are certified organic, septic safe, never tested on animals and hypoallergenic. With a philosophy to replace harmful chemicals and synthetic ingredients in products, what's not to like?
What are setting sprays? Most people don't know what they are or how to use them. According to Google, setting sprays are also known as finishing sprays and are a cosmetic product that is designed to preserve applied makeup for long periods of time. This acts as a sort of binding device that allows the makeup to set and stay on longer than it would without the spray. Setting sprays are especially popular when in theatre or doing special effects makeup as it ensures the makeup to not rub off onto costumes and stay in place. It also helps to make the look more natural as the liquid helps to settle the makeup.
I still remember the very first makeup item I purchased; mascara. I was in the seventh grade and my friend introduced me to the makeup isle. All the products looked interesting to me but it was definitely overwhelming. I decided on a little tube of mascara and looking back, I probably wasn't the most skilled at applying it. Several years later and I've been through many tubes of mascara and have compiled this list of my top 5!
