March Favourites

MarchFavThis month passed by so quickly! So much has happened and I have a lot of things that I’ve used during this month.

One of the things that changed for the month of March is my mobile phone! I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S5 and am very happy with the results so far. Unfortunately there was a slight problem with the screen upon arrival but when brought into a Samsung Service Centre, I was able to receive my phone back within a few hours with the screen replaced! I was very pleased that I didn’t have to send it off to a third party company and wait weeks.

The two makeup products I’ve reached for most this month is my Tarina Tarantino eyeshadow palette in Dreamy. This has the most pigmented and buttery eyeshadows! It’s a dream to work with and I like to use a few of the colours for an everyday look and then use the darkest shade in the palette to turn it into a smoky nighttime look. The blush I’ve used most is the NARS powder blush in Gilda. This is a gorgeous peachy/apricot shade and has me looking forward to more Spring blushes! (Upcoming post to look out for!)

Tea has been a recurring theme this month. I was caught with the sniffles earlier this month but have managed to combat it by using my humidifier and daily doses of tea. My favourite this month has been a black soybean tea which contains no caffeine and a slight roasted, earthy flavour.

I’ve had the Next Issue app on my iPad for quite a while now and love how seamless it is. I wouldn’t call it a “worldwide magazine app”, but it does satisfy a few of the magazines I like to browse when I’m in line at the checkout. I don’t usually have time to read all of the magazines at once, so I like that it has an offline reading ability.

My sister recently got her hands on a Himalayan Salt Lamp and I’ve been secretly envious. These lamps claim to purify indoor air, reducing allergens and improving your mood via negative ions. Positive ions occur naturally and are usually caused by electronic devices in the home and can worsen allergies, stress and contribute to poor sleep. These negative ions help to neutralize the positive ions by binding together and help cleanse the air.

Last year, I finally got my hands on a Vitamix blender after many months of saving up. I’ve been using my blender quite often by making smoothies, soups and different sauces. I like to create my own combinations, but when I’m not feeling creative, Candice Kumai has some pretty awesome recipes!

My boyfriend and I can’t wait for warmer weather and picnics in the park! Walking through Marshalls, we found quite a few picnic baskets that included cutlery and insulation to keep food fresh. We haven’t found a basket that we like just yet, but I love the ideas of picnics in the park with or without one!

Last but not least, I have been obsessed with freshly cut flowers. They’ve always been a favourite of mine, but I’ve caught myself eyeing the flower section in the grocery store more than a handful of times now. I love creating flower arrangements and enjoy looking at ones already pre-made. Unfortunately they do cause allergies, but they’re so beautiful to look at!
