Passionate Skincare – SkinFood

Nathan from Passionate Skincare is definitely passionate about his business! After getting to know Nathan a little bit more, I realized we both have similar skin problems and that's what drew me to collaborate with Passionate Skincare. I have scalp psoriasis and I am always looking for an ultra moisturizing cream to help me combat it. In addition to my psoriasis, I have asthma which makes me sensitive to strong smelling scents. That's where SkinFood from Passionate Skincare comes in!SkinFood

Fig + Yarrow Clay Mask

Fig + Yarrow has a variety of masks to offer. I love facial masks, but powdered facial masks are the best! Why? When the ingredients are already mixed in the container, the active ingredients are often a lot less potent. This makes for less of a useful mask. Not just that, but mixing my skincare up makes it a lot more fun! DSC_5856_picmonkeyed DSC_5866_picmonkeyed

Setting Sprays

What are setting sprays? Most people don't know what they are or how to use them. According to Google, setting sprays are also known as finishing sprays and are a cosmetic product that is designed to preserve applied makeup for long periods of time. This acts as a sort of binding device that allows the makeup to set and stay on longer than it would without the spray. Setting sprays are especially popular when in theatre or doing special effects makeup as it ensures the makeup to not rub off onto costumes and stay in place. It also helps to make the look more natural as the liquid helps to settle the makeup.

What are parabens? Why should I stay away?

costumer shopping in the supermarket choosing a product With the new green movement in trying to promote a more sustainable lifestyle and natural products that are being promoted lately, we've seen a lot of controversy and claims that many things are now "paraben free". But what exactly are parabens? And why should we be so afraid of them? It's effective anti-microbial properties are effective and used in everyday things from shampoos to makeup products which  is used as a preservative in nearly 90% of all cosmetics. Parabens, which include butylparaben, isobutylparaben, ethylparaben, methylparaben, propylparaben, isopropylparaben, and benzylparaben, can be absorbed through the skin and migrate into the bloodstream and body tissues. Due to the migration of the parabens, concerns have been raised recently, about possible links between some cosmetic products containing parabens and the incidence of breast cancer.

My Top 5 Mascaras

I still remember the very first makeup item I purchased; mascara. I was in the seventh grade and my friend introduced me to the makeup isle. All the products looked interesting to me but it was definitely overwhelming. I decided on a little tube of mascara and looking back, I probably wasn't the most skilled at applying it. Several years later and I've been through many tubes of mascara and have compiled this list of my top 5!

Face on our skin gets pretty beat up during the winter season so good skin care is vital. Don't worry, not too many people have! The skin is very delicate and even the slightest imbalance can cause your skin to go into a tizzy... Here's how to supplement your winter skin care with hydrating masks!

The winter months are harsh. Let's be real. Chapped lips, windburned cheeks, just a few things that nobody likes about the season. Skincare is essential during the winter otherwise we end up getting flaky skin and that definitely is not cute. Not only that but without a proper skincare routine, central heating, UV rays and extreme change in temperatures can be extremely irritating for our skin.
